Foreign Studies Exchange Program and Study Opportunities

  • Ecole d'Architecture LaVilette, Paris, France. Through an association between the College of Architecture and the Ecole d' Architecture Paris-LaVilette, students from the College of Architecture travel to France to conduct advanced architectural investigations with adjunct faculty in Paris.

  • Moscow Institute of Architecture, Moscow, Russia.
    Through an agreement with The Moscow Institute of Architecture, students may study architecture and Russian language for a semester in Moscow.

  • Vienna Exchange Program, Vienna, Austria.
    Students participating in this program will be taught in studios headed by noted critics and architects such as Wolf D. Prix of COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, Zaha Hadid and Hans Hollein/Greg Lynn. This is a self-directed program of study.

  • Mexico Historic Preservation Program.
    Offers students the opportunity to engage in the study of historic preservation and site documentation through the exploration and study of various historic sites in Mexico.

  • Chile Exchange Program.
    A student exchange program with Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD). The program is intended to build a partnership between the UDD School of Architecture and the UH College of Architecture in order to collaborate with the Virginia Modeling Analysis and Simulation Center (VMASC) on a project funded by the National Science Foundation to transfer virtual reality technology to Chile.

Internships Abroad

  • Spain
    Through the sponsorship of Mr. Gerald D. Hines, founder of Hines International, four students may be selected to receive Hines Internships with the offices of Enric Miralles Benedetta Tagliabue Arquitectes and Fundacion Oscar Tusquets Blanca in Barcelona, Spain. Students will receive a $6,000 stipend for the six-month internship.

  • Paris
    The College of Architecture offers internship opportunities in selected offices in Paris, France. Students selected for these internships must have some proficiency in the French language and must have prior work experience in an architecture office. Participating offices include, Odile Decq & Benoit Cornette Architectes, Agence Nicolas Michelin & Associes, Bernard Tschumi Architects, Reichen et Robert, and Chemetov & Huidobro. All internship candidates will be finalized through the individual offices.
