C.T. Bauer College of BusinessStudent Services ConcourseThe Bauer College Student Services Concourse, located on the second floor of Melcher Hall, is a center for student assistance in the areas of academic advising, admissions and academic records, career services, and scholarships and special programs.
MBA Program OfficeThe MBA Program Office within the C.T. Bauer College of Business is the administrative center for graduate admissions and academic advising for master-level students. The MBA Program Office staff is committed to quality student service. It also promotes recruitment and retention programs, as well as supporting business student organizations. For questions relating to admission or for academic advising, please contact the MBA Program Office, 275 Melcher Hall, (713) 743-4876. Advisors are available on an appointment basis.
Elizabeth D. Rockwell Career Services CenterThe Elizabeth D. Rockwell Career Services Center actively provides Bauer College students with the information, ideas, and practical skills necessary to obtain a satisfying career in today's competitive marketplace. An innovative, technology-oriented unit, the new center houses state-of-the-art computer workstations and Ethernet/data jack connection terminals. Students can access the Internet, the University Career Services, company profiles and career education resources from this location. More than 500 companies recruit from the Bauer College of Business each year. Other features include the opportunity for students to sign-up for on-campus interviews and register their resumés from this site.
Centers for Advanced Study, Research, and Executive DevelopmentFive academic departments, Accountancy and Taxation, Decision and Information Sciences, Finance, Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship and several centers for research and advanced study and management education are housed in the Bauer College of Business.
AIM Center for Investment Management (ACIM)The Bauer College of Business, with the substantial help of AIM Funds and other corporate and individual partners, has created a state of the art teaching and research facility, the “ACIM,” that serves as the focal point for the Fund and its supporting courses. The AIM Center, located on the main floor of the Bauer College home, Melcher Hall, offers the most comprehensive and technologically advanced systems available for accessing market and corporate information and for undertaking analytical research on business and financial market issues. Students will be trained on Reuters and Thomson Financial databases. The ACIM provides sixteen portfolio manager workstations, as well as classroom and conference areas that encourage students, faculty, and business professionals to interact in a technologically sophisticated environment. The Center facilitates the Bauer College’s educational mission by providing a resource base that is second to none available around the world.
Center for Entrepreneurship and InnovationThe mission of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) is to organize and expand the knowledge and practice of entrepreneurship. The center also seeks to enhance the standing of the University of Houston's Bauer College of Business by providing programs which will make the college the nation's leader in entrepreneurial education.
Fixed Income Research ProgramThe Fixed Income Research Program (FIRP) promotes research in financial markets, with an emphasis on fixed income securities. FIRP sponsors seminars, provides faculty support, and funds research and computer equipment purchases.
Center for Global ManufacturingThe Center for Global Manufacturing (CGM) was established in 1991 with assistance from Tenneco, Houston Lighting and Power, and Texas Commerce Bank. The CGM mission is to improve the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing through research and executive training. Original research is conducted to identify critical requirements for excellence in manufacturing companies in the future. Special emphasis is placed on manufacturing strategies for Texas companies competing in the global economy. Research findings are presented in executive seminar programs offered jointly with the Center for Executive Development. The CGM's flagship program is a one-week executive seminar entitled: "Managing Productions and Operations: Strategic Approaches to Improving Productivity." The program agenda includes case studies, computer exercises, and lectures on demand forecasting, quality management, manufacturing strategy, planning and scheduling, and inventory and materials management.
Center for Executive DevelopmentIn 1948, the University of Houston established one of the early centers devoted to executive development and education. Known today as the Center for Executive Development (CED), it is one of the Bauer College's primary contacts with the business community. The CED provides a range of high-quality executive education, management development, and business professional training to the local, regional, national, and international business communities.
Information Systems Research CenterWith approximately thirty-three corporate sponsors, the Information Systems Research Center (ISRC) is a forum for the interchange of ideas among information technology professionals in the academic and professional communities. The objectives of the ISRC are the training, development, and continuing education of information systems (IS) professionals; research in the development and utilization of IS in organizations; and the promotion of interaction among the professional IS community, our students, and the college.
University of Houston Small Business Development CenterThe University of Houston Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a professional consulting program of the Bauer College and the U.S. Small Business Administration. The SBDC provides free business consulting to small businesses, including assistance with accounting, financial analysis, exporting, management, marketing and loan packaging. The University of Houston SBDC also offers low-cost workshops ranging from advanced seminars aimed at the experienced small business owner to introductory courses for those planning to start a business.The Center also offers specialized assistance in international trade, government procurement, and manufacturing through its International Trade Center, Texas Information Procurement Service (TIPS), and Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC).

Institute for Diversity and Cross-Cultural ManagementThe Institute for Diversity and Cross-Cultural Management operates as the research and development arm of the Center for Executive Development in the Bauer College. The institute was created to address changes in the world marketplace, changes in the current and future demographics of the labor market, individual differences in the work force, and the increasing globalization of business.
Institute for Health Care MarketingThe Institute for Health Care Marketing produces academic studies for journals and technical reports for health-care providers. Its focus is on advising the marketers of health care, particularly preventive care, on how to be more effective.
