College of PharmacyTxpharm Degree RequirementsThe student must complete a minimum of 43 hours for the PharmD., non-traditional degree, including 22 hours of didactic and 21 hours of experiential or the equivalent of these PharmD. courses. Some of these courses may be waived through successful completion of the placement exam(s) for these courses, proof of prior coursework within the last five years, advanced continuing education, practice experiences, pharmacist certificate programs or a combination thereof.Grades of S/U (satisfactory/unsatisfactory) are awarded in the TxPHARM courses. Time LimitationAll requirements for the non-traditional PHARMD. must be completed within five years after formal admission to the program.Curriculum DeliveryThe didactic courses are presented using internet-based and other instructional technologies. The system combines the distribution technologies of all participating colleges to deliver the courses throughout the state. The courses are sequenced so that a student may select an accelerated or standard delivery format. In the accelerated format, the student is able to complete the curriculum in two calendar years (six semesters). The standard delivery schedule requires four academic years (eight semesters) assuming the student completes courses only spring and fall semesters each year. The entire curriculum must be completed within a total of twelve semesters of study that must not span more than five calendar years.Each college/school is responsible for providing the problem-based and clinical experiences for their doctoral candidates. Candidates who reside within a geographic region outside the area where their institutions typically offers case studies and clinical experiences may petition the college/school within their region to provide these courses. The college/school will provide these learning experiences on a space-available basis. RequirementsApplicants may possess a wide variety of practice and educational backgrounds. Therefore, prior to enrolling in the IPPAP courses students must demonstrate pre-requisite skills in practice methodology and pharmacokinetics. These pre-requisite skills can be demonstrated by:
