Required Core Experiential Courses

The student must complete 21 weeks of rotations for a total of 21 semester hours. To assure flexibility in completing this part of the curriculum the following options may be taken:

Students can complete rotations at their places of employment. Students may be allowed to identify their preceptors and practice sites. However, both must be approved by TXPHARM.

Students may waive one of the three-hour elective experiential courses. Students may develop a practice specialty as part of their elective rotation.

Methods available for completing experiential training requirements: Complete 6 weeks of institutional/acute care and 6 weeks of ambulatory care. Complete 4 weeks institutional/acute care; 4 weeks ambulatory care; and 4 weeks of either ambulatory care or institutional/acute care. Complete 2-3 week rotations in institutional/acute care or 2-3 week rotations in ambulatory care. Selective Rotations (complete 3-3 week rotations in a practice area other than that chosen for ambulatory care or institutional/acute care.

Sites/Preceptors

Student may be assigned to a preceptor and/practice site by their home institution.

Students may identify a preceptor or practice site of their own. However, these practice sites and preceptors must be approve/certified by TXPHARM institutions.

Student may rotate in their place of employment under a preceptor and practice site approved by TXPHARM.

Students must complete experiential rotations outside of regularly scheduled working hours.
