Department of Anthropology Chair: Dr. Norris G. Lang Master of Arts Program The Department of Anthropology offers two tracks in its Master of Arts program.Plan I: Thesis Option is designed primarily for students who plan to pursue the Doctor of Philosophy degree, while the Plan II: Nonthesis Option is for students who plan to enter careers as professional applied anthropologists upon completion of the master's degree.
Admission Requirements Requirements include a baccalaureate degree in anthropology or an undergraduate degree that includes 24 semester hours in anthropology; a 3.00 grade point average (A=4.00) in the most recent 60 semester hours of undergraduate and/or graduate courses; Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores; and three letters of recommendation. (Verbal, quantitative, and analytical GRE scores are examined separately and evaluated as one information source in the total application.)
Degree Requirements Plan I Program Requirements (Thesis Option)
Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above and satisfactorily complete a comprehensive examination. Plan II Program Requirements (Nonthesis Option)
Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above and satisfactorily complete a comprehensive examination.
