2362: Principles of Drug Action
Cr. 3. (3-0). A critical examination of man's environment with particular emphasis on the benefits and risks of drug usage and exposure to chemicals. This course has been approved to satisfy the natural science component of Level 2 of the core curriculum.

2361: Drugs and Disease States
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: open to non-pharmacy majors only. BIOL 1310:1320 and PHAR 2362 helpful but not required. An examination of common human diseases and the drug therapy used to treat these diseases.

4305: Nonprescription Drugs and Their Use
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: second professional year standing or consent of instructor. Consideration of selected medications available without prescription, and the counseling of patients as to their use.

4260: Pharmacy Management I
Cr.2. (2-0). Prerequisite: First year standing in the College of Pharmacy. Management and accounting principles related to community and hospital pharmacy practice and computers in pharmacy practice.

4261: Pharmacy Management II
Cr.2. (2-0). Prerequisite: PHAR 4260. Principles and theories of pharmacy practice site management.

4270: Pharmacy Practice I
Cr.2. (2-0). Prerequisite: First year standing in the College of Pharmacy, SPCM 1331. Instruction in problem solving and basic communications, interpersonal relationships, drug information, medical terminology, introduction to pharmacy and history of pharmacy and its professional organizations.

4271: Pharmacy Practice II
Cr.2. (2-0). Prerequisite: MATH 2311 and PHAR 4270. Identifying, evaluating, and selecting appropriate drug information sources; pharmaceutical calculations and measurements.

4320: Organ Systems Life Sciences I
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: First year standing in the College of Pharmacy and BIOL 1431-1432. Principles of human anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the body including fetal physiology; an introduction to neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and pathophysiology of the human central nervous system.

4330: Pharmaceutics I
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: First year standing in the College of Pharmacy. Physicochemical properties of drugs and their dosage forms with emphasis on drug delivery systems.

4331: Pharmaceutics II
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: PHAR 4330. Design of novel drug delivery systems including physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties of drugs and their dosage forms.

4350: Pharmacy Skills Program I
Cr.3. (0-9). Prerequisite: First year standing in the College of Pharmacy. Laboratories/ demonstrations in the basic pharmaceutical sciences, problem solving sessions, practice site visitation, and application of computers to pharmacy.

4351: Pharmacy Skills Program II
Cr.3. (0-9). Prerequisite: PHAR 4350. Laboratories/demonstrations in the basic pharmaceutical sciences, patient counseling skills in non-English speaking populations (Elementary Spanish/Vietnamese), basic statistics and pharmaceutical calculations.

4400: Cellular Life Sciences I
Cr.4. (4-0). Prerequisite: First year standing in the College of Pharmacy, CHEM 3331-3332 and CHEM 3221-3222. An introduction to the chemistry and metabolism of biological molecules including: carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, proteins, and nucleic acids; and coverage of vitamins and their components, with emphasis on their relationship to disease states and drug therapy.

4401: Cellular Life Sciences II
Cr.4. (4-0). Prerequisite: PHAR 4400. A study of human immunology and genetics as it relates to normal body function, disease states, and drug therapy.

4421: Organ Systems Life Sciences II
Cr. 4. (4-0). Prerequisite: PHAR 4320. Human physiology and pathophysiology of cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, reproductive, and endocrine systems.

Cr. 1. (1-0). Prerequisite: Fourth year standing in the College of Pharmacy. Patient history collection and review, patient medication counseling, drug information presentation and pharmacy in-service programs.

Cr. 1-4 per semester or more by concurrent enrollment. Prerequisite: approval of dean. It should be noted that these courses are graded as S/U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) courses.

5306: Molecular Biology Research

5322: Toxicology
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: PHAR 5703. Basic toxicology of therapeutic agents, environmental agents and drug and substance abuse.

5323: Public Health
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: Third-year standing in the College of Pharmacy or consent of the instructor. Discussion of epidemiological principles and their applications in establishing etiologies and preventative strategies with regard to chronic diseases, infectious diseases, substance abuse and genetic disease.

5333: Advanced Statistics
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: Third-year standing in the College of Pharmacy or consent of the instructor. A study of common statistical methods used to evaluate the effectiveness of drug therapy in various populations.

5334: Pharmaceutics Research
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: Third-year standing in the College of Pharmacy or consent of the instructor. Introduction to basic research into pharmaceutics including formulations, dosage forms, and drug delivery systems.

5365: Pharmacy Public Speaking

Emphasis on the development of speaking skills required to effectively present drug and pharmacy issues to various general audiences to both inform and educate them as knowledgeable pharmaceutical consumers.

5376: Advanced Community Pharmacy Practice
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: Third-year standing in the College of Pharmacy or consent of the instructor. Clinical pharmacy services and pharmaceutical care as practiced in a community pharmacy setting.

5377: Advanced Hospital Pharmacy Practice

5378: Specialized Patient Pharmaceutical Care
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: Third-year standing in the College of Pharmacy or consent of the instructor. Clinical pharmacy services and specialized needs of patients with specific disease states such as infectious disease, cancer, chronic cardiac conditions, etc.

5379: Specialty Compounding

5380: Physical Assessment
Cr.3. (3-0). Prerequisite: PHAR 5702. Concurrent enrollment in: PHAR 5703 or consent of the instructor. Understanding and application of physical diagnostic examinations and gross pathological states as it relates to rational drug prescribing.

5432: Pharmacokinetics
Cr.4. (4-0). Prerequisites: PHAR 4401, PHAR 4421, and PHAR 4331. Concurrent enrollment in: PHAR 5702. Application of the principles of pharmacokinetics to drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion. Effect of disease on drug response and pharmacokinetics. The clinical pharmacokinetics of drug doses and specified drugs in relation to the rational administration of these agents. Influence of dosage form and disease on therapeutic and toxic response.
