Cullen College of Engineering

Admission Requirements

In general, applicants seeking admission to graduate study in a master's degree program in one of the major disciplines must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or from a related program in science or mathematics from an accredited program. A grade point average of 3.0/4.0 over the last 60 semester hours of course work and test results from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are also required for anyone seeking admission to graduate study. For specific requirements on minimum GRE scores and minimum grade point averages, consult the individual department or interdisciplinary program.

To apply for admission to engineering graduate programs, the prospective student must complete and submit for evaluation a graduate admissions application along with two official transcripts of all colleges previously attended, GRE scores, three letters of recommendation, a description of extracurricular activity, and the student's statement of purpose. The admission requirements for international students are the same. However, in addition, international applicants must submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score, a letter of financial backing, and a statement of understanding.
