Admission Requirements

In addition to the college admissions requirements, students must:

  1. Applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

  2. Applicants must submit official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.

  3. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.00 cumulative grade point average (A=4.00) during the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate studies.

  4. Applicants seeking to enter the program at Level I must have completed university courses in classical physics (heat, light, electricity, sound, and mechanics) and mathematics (algebra, geometry, and trigonometry). Further, each applicant is encouraged to complete university courses in the history of western civilization and freehand drawing or photography before initiating graduate studies in the Master of Architecture Program.

  5. Applicants must submit an 81/2" x 11" (A4) portfolio of representative design work for evaluation by the Graduate Admissions Committee. While the portfolio should demonstrate the candidate's ability in the field of architecture, it may also present evidence of abilities in related fields such as photography, painting, sculpture, and graphics. In addition to serving as one of the criteria for admission, the portfolio review is used in placing students in the design sequence. The portfolio should be securely bound and should be accompanied by a self-addressed, postage-paid envelope.
