Admissions Requirements

Each student is admitted to the Master of Architecture program at one of three entry points (levels) based upon a review of his or her previous academic work and experience. Each applicant must submit an 81/2" x 11" (A4) portfolio of representative design work to the college for review. Based upon this review, the college will place the student in the appropriate level of design and develop a program of study that includes courses at the appropriate level from the core curriculum together with a sequence of electives.

Each person seeking admission to the graduate program in architecture must meet the general requirements for graduate study at the University of Houston, including an application for graduate studies, two official transcripts, GRE scores, and three letters of recommendation. The applicant should refer to the Graduate Admission Application Booklet for detailed information.

In addition to the general requirements outlined in the Graduate Admission Application Booklet, the applicant should refer to the specific application requirements for the entrance level appropriate to his or her background.

Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3

All Master of Architecture applicants must meet the following requirements: Application Fee. The College of Architecture requires a $10 graduate application fee.

Statement of Intent. A person seeking admission to the graduate program should submit a letter describing his or her interests in pursuing graduate study at the University of Houston.

Deadline for Admissions. The deadline for receipt of all application material for fall admission to the College of Architecture is February 1. Admission for the spring semester is available only for students qualified for the Level III Entrance Post-professional degree program. The deadline for receipt of application material for spring admission to this program is October 1.
