ReFrame x Frame
GDBS has constructed a proposal for transitional housing that is erected in Hermann Park for the Hermann Park Conservancy Art in the Park Centennial celebration. For 2013 GDBS project cycle, the Graduate Design/Build Studio in collaboration with Professor Cheryl Beckett's Graduate Graphic Communications Studio of the UH Blaffer School of Art was invited to participate in the year-long Centennial Celebration of Houston's premier public green space, Hermann Park. Doreen Stoller, Executive Director of the Hermann Park Conservancy, asked the GD/BS collaborative team to develop "ReFRAME x FRAME: A Micro Pavilion for Hermann Park." ReFRAME is a semi-permanent (15 month) open-air shade structure including informational graphics as well as an interactive sound art installation.
In addition to the Hermann Park Conservancy Art in the Park Centennial events that will occur throughout 2014, the spring will bring specific focus on the micro pavilion. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, sponsor for the ReFRAME interactive art installation by artist Abinadi Meza, will focus its visual and performing arts programming during a concentrated week of city-wide art activities. This first ever Mitchell Center Spring Festival will direct special attention to the installation of Meza and the ReFRAME Micro Pavilion.
Located adjacent to Tiffany Bridge. ReFrame x Frame hopes to contribute the beauty to the beauty of the 100 year centennial celebration.
