HMS Outdoor Classroom and Film Projection Canopy
Hamilton Middle School, located in the Historic Heights neighborhood of Houston, is the site for the 2005 Graduate Design/Build Studio's Outdoor Classroom and Film Projection Canopy. The structure will consist of a steel canopy supported by steel columns on drilled pier foundations sheltering a raised concrete platform. The lawn of the campus playground also functions as a component of the neighborhood park, enhanced for after-school use through the City of Houston's SPARK program. The project is integrated into the canopy of the existing walkway and surrounding buildings, to provide shade for an outdoor classroom, and film projection space.
