Summer financial aid is available if you are enrolled at least half-time and have remaining aid that was NOT used during the fall and spring semesters. The summer semester is the final term in the 2011-2012 academic year. Therefore, if you have a completed the FAFSA for fall and spring, it also includes the following summer.
In addition to completing the FAFSA, you will need to complete a Summer Aid Application, which is available on the Financial Aid & Scholarship Forms page.
| PLEASE NOTE: Changes to Student Aid Programs for 2012-2013 affect Summer Aid. For more information, please visit the FEDERAL STUDENT AID PAGE. |

There are two types of awards available via the FAFSA for the summer—Pell grants and student loans. Students may also apply for private loans.
Pell Grants
NEW FOR SUMMER 2012: Due to changes to Student Aid Programs for 2012-2013, second Pell disbursements will be discontinued beginning summer semester 2012. Students who received a full Pell grant for the fall and spring semesters will not be awarded remaining aid for summer. Only students who attended one semester or attended part-time will have second Pell disbursements for the summer.
Loans
The Summer Aid Application requires you to cancel any pending or active Summer 2012 aid with your prior institution. You may not receive aid from multiple institutions during the same enrollment period, and doing so will result in cancellation of aid and a balance.
Students’ eligibility is affected by federal loan money awarded at UH or another institution during the aid year.
