*** Important Notice ***
This website is under construction. Please stay tuned for scholarship requirements for new students entering Fall 2010, as they are changing.
Entering freshmen who rank in the top 20% of their high school graduating class, score 1100 or above on the SAT - or 24 and above on the ACT - have a 3.0 or higher high school GPA* (on a 4.0 scale), and who have been granted admission to the University of Houston are eligible to compete for the Academic Excellence Scholarship.
No application for this scholarship is necessary. All students are automatically reviewed for eligibility upon admission to the university.
This award ranges from $2,500 to $6,500 per year and is renewable for up to four years. Please note that awards are subject to funds available and students should be admitted by January 15, 2009. Students are strongly encouraged to apply by January 1, 2009 in order to ensure a decision from Admissions by the January 15th deadline.
Students receiving a National Merit Scholarship or Terry Scholarship are not eligible to receive the Academic Excellence Scholarship.
* Note: Entering freshmen whose high schools do not report GPA on a 4.0 scale must request GPA conversion on transcripts from their High School Registrar.
