Degrees of Success

Students in classroom To meet the needs of changing social and economic landscapes, the University of Houston is expanding its academic offerings. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved the Master of Technology in Future Studies in Commerce and the Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Studies. Additionally, the UH System Board of Regents has authorized a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Master of Science in Atmospheric Science, and two Ph.D.’s—one in atmospheric science and the other in pharmacy administration. These academic degrees are pending approval by the coordinating board. As part of UH’s commitment to promoting cultural understanding and enhancing global commerce, a new course on India’s history, arts, and culture has been developed. The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences India Studies Program, in collaboration with the foundation for India Studies, promotes the history, politics, economics, languages, and culture of India. Visiting faculty will introduce aspects of classical music, dances, and India’s cave, temple, and fort architecture to help students appreciate Indian arts and the architectural grandeur of various sites in India.
