HELP SAVE LIVES AND PREVENT INJURIES

During National Safety Month in June, join UH Facilities Services as we work to raise awareness of what it takes to stay SafeForLife.

National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the roads and in our homes and communities. Safety is no accident. It’s a choice we need to make throughout our entire lives. Whether it’s driving without passengers as a newly licensed teen, finding alternatives to prescription painkillers in middle-age or fall-proofing the bathroom as an older adult, we’re all empowered to make safe decisions for ourselves and those we care about.

The National Safety Council has put together endless amounts of information. There are so many pieces of information located on the website that it could be overwhelming. UH Facilities has chosen these three links to highlight this year.

This 1-minute video helps everyone understand the most harmful preventable situations that can occur in our lives.

There is a 5-question survey in order to produce an individualized Safety Snapshot. The questions include gender, age, state of residence, occupation and whether you have children. The quick snapshot gives the leading causes of unintentional death, leading causes of unintentional injuries and safety concerns for children of each age range.

The third link is a Safe at Work pledge.  Once completed with the employee’s name and email address, a certificate is available that can be proudly displayed to show the safety-conscience pledger will do the following.

  • Never compromise my own safety or the safety of my co-workers to get the job done

  • Actively look for hazards, promptly report them, and take appropriate action to warn others

  • Be a good safety role model for my friends and family even when off the job

Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
