UH Facilities Crews Go Mobile


As part of a major effort to increase efficiency, the Facilities Information Technology team has developed a mobile work order app which is enabling technicians to provide real-time updates from the field.

The mobile work order app is a simple and user-friendly application that allows Facilities technicians to access the work order module while away from their desktops. Using iPad tablets, they can now immediately find assigned work orders, update tickets, add notes, attach photos, and close or reassign tickets while in the field.

Previously, closing or reassigning a ticket meant technicians had to leave their job site and return to their desks or contact their supervisor to update a ticket.

Using this new mobile work order technology has become a real game changer for Facilities crews.  It is eliminating the data entry required of a paper-based system while providing a quicker, more accurate work order process and greater productivity.
