The recently renovated Blaffer Art Museum has received multiple awards.

In addition to receiving the 2013 Design Award for renovation/restoration by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Houston, it also received two 2013 Best of Awards from the Houston Press, being named both Best Artistic Renovation and Best College Campus Building.

Renovations to the museum included a new gallery entrance on the north side of the building and a new interconnecting staircase between the first and second floors. All gallery interiors were renovated and a classroom and coffee bar were added. Infrastructure improvements included new building automation systems (BAS) controls, enhanced security, audio/visual capabilities and a new fire suppression system.

The Facilities Planning and Construction team on the project was Senior Project Manager Luiza Maal, Principal Project Manager Katherine Miller and Facilities Project Inspector Jeff Brown. The contractor was Vaughn Construction with Works as the architect and engineer.
