Description

The UHCL Student Services / Classroom Building has had a myriad of serious and unacceptable design and construction issues from its original construction in 2005, the most significant being systematic water leaks through the building envelope.Since the original architect and general contractor are unwilling to fix the problems, the University is proceeding with repairs to the building envelope. The project is currently in litigation through the UHS Office of General Council.French Engineering has designed the repair construction documents.Hardin Construction was awarded the construction project based on a Competitive Sealed Proposal process. The work includes, but is not limited to, the removal of the composite metal panel and glazing building skin system, repair of waterproofing and flashing, and replacement of glazing and matching metal panels. Also included are concrete slab repairs, landscape drainage, and lecture hall drainage, and the repair of the Generator foundation (JE Dunn).
