Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs - Health and Wellness
Floyd was named the assistant vice president for Student Affairs-Health and Wellness in January 2012. Before coming to UH in 1994, Floyd held administrative positions at both M.D. Anderson Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. Prior to his work in health care, he taught English at a private boarding school in South Central Pennsylvania. Education has always been a motivating force in his life. It continues to be an integral part of his professional career. During his 18+ years tenure as the director of the UH Health Center, he introduced several viable clinics to the Health Center – Psychiatric Clinic, Men’s Clinic, and Dental Clinic. He also brought the Attendant Care Services program into the Health Center. He continues to be a strong patient advocate and educator in all areas of health. HIV, women’s and men’s health issues continue to be subjects he is called upon to address locally and nationally. His inherent desire to educate and keep people healthy compels him to try to accept every invitation extended.
Floyd received the Staff Excellence Award in 2005 from UH. He is a member of the Title IX Sexual Violence Education and Prevention Advisory Committee, co-chair of the Tobacco Task Force Oversight Committee, co-chair of the Health and Counseling Center Feasibility Committee, and appointed to the Texas Medical Center Flu Advisory Council. He is a member and advisor to Delta Upsilon Fraternity; member of the Golden Key International Honor Society; co-president of the US Association for the Club of Rome; Phi Beta Delta Fraternity; and an Honorary Member of the Order of Omega Kappa Tau Chapter.
Floyd holds a Bachelor of Science in English and Speech from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA. He is a member of the Christ Church Cathedral where he served on the Vestry for four years. As a member of the Cathedral Choir, he has sung at the Westminster Abbey and in the summer of 2013 sang at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
