Brown Bag Discussion
The DSA Professional Development Committee would like to invite you to the "Reigniting passion in our work: Lessons from Howard’s Gift" brown bag.
- Date: Wednesday July 9, 2014
- Time: 12:00pm – 1:00pm
- Location: University Career Services: SS1 Room. 156
- Facilitated By: Brian N. Mills, Assistant Director - Intramural Sports
How do we maintain our passion for our work? How do we avoid burnout? This brownbag uses the bestselling book Howard's Gift, written by a Harvard business school professor, to help attendees take a frank and fresh look at their work lives. The brownbag will help attendees ask themselves provocative questions about the way we manage work: Are we using the right people in the right places? Are we setting limits or are limits being set for us? Are we cheating at solitaire? Are we doing what we were meant to be doing or are we cheating ourselves out of the joy of our jobs? Attendees will explore these questions to generate innovative, practical answers that they can apply immediately to their work lives. An interactive format will be utilized to allow attendees the opportunity to benefit from the experiences and perspectives of colleagues.
