Keith T. Kowalka
Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs - Student Life
Keith serves as the assistant vice president for Student Affairs – Student Life and has been at UH since 1998. Keith has worked in the Student Affairs arena for over 20 years, and held previous positions at Eastern Michigan University, Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and the University of Toledo. In his current role, Keith provide strategic direction, innovative leadership, and coordination for the development and delivery of programs, services and facilities focusing on learning and student engagement while enriching the campus life experience. Areas of oversight include the A.D. Bruce Religion Center/Campus Ministries Association, Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, Center for Student Involvement, Center for Student Media, Children’s Learning Centers, the LGBT Resource Center, University Centers, Student Affairs IT Services, Weeks of Welcome Program, and major campus events. In addition, he advises the Student Government Association.
Keith has a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling with a specialization in College Student Personnel Administration from Eastern Michigan University. He holds two bachelor's degrees from the University of Toledo: one with a major in Communication and a minor in Marketing; the other with a major in Political Science and a minor in Management. In his free time Keith enjoys sports, theatre, reading, movies, traveling and loves music (everything from pop, dance and Broadway to rock and roll and country).
