Welcome

  • Dear Students:

It is with great excitement and pride that I welcome each of you to the University of Houston.  This is a tremendously exciting time to be a Cougar.

Our elevation to Tier One status in 2011 by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching was the first in a series of recent achievements.  Later that year, the Princeton Review included UH in its list of “best colleges for undergraduate education,” and “best value colleges.”  And who can forget the historic invitation to join the Big East Conference!  It all brings prestige to the university and added value to your degree.

Just look around campus.  New student housing, new dining facilities, and new parking garages are sprouting all around us.  Classroom and labs are being renovated.  Ground has been broken for a spectacular new University Center.  And new undergraduate programs are being offered in high-demand areas such as petroleum engineering.

Student success is my administration’s top priority, and we are doing all we can to ensure you receive the best education possible in an environment where the talents and skills you bring with you can be developed and enhanced.

Always be confident that every service we provide, every building we construct, every professor we hire, and every scholarship we award, has one common purpose – to ensure your success.

Wear red with pride – especially on Fridays– fill the stands at every home game, study hard, and also have fun.

    Go Coogs!

    Renu Khator
    President
