Hours of Operation: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday–Friday
All vehicles parked on campus must display a valid UH parking permit issued by Parking & Transportation Services (PTS). This permit allows parking in designated areas as space permits; it does not guarantee a parking space in any particular lot.
Parking permit registration is available on Parking Self- Service through accessuh.uh.edu. Students may choose from garage, student or economy lot permits. During registration a printable temporary permit is provided until the official permit is received by mail. Students should familiarize themselves with the parking regulations by visiting the parking website.
Parking citations double after 21 days, so all students are encouraged to take care of any parking citations in a timely manner. Violations V01 through V05 are discounted if paid within 48 hours of being issued. Parking citations can be paid or appealed online before the 21 day deadline. After 21 days, students forfeit the right to appeal a violation. A complete listing of parking rules and regulations is available on the parking website. To pay or appeal a citation, simply go to accessuh.uh.edu.
The university offers a shuttle fleet that service the campus, the Energy Research Park and Metro's Eastwood transit center. The shuttles are equipped with Cougar Trax to provide real-time arrival predictions. To see when the next bus will arrive at your stop visit www.uh.edu/cougartraxmobile or www.uh.edu.edu/cougartraxpublic. Students who park in outlying lots can enjoy an air-conditioned ride to center of campus and back to their cars. The Cougar Line is a free service but swiping of the cougar card is needed to help PTS evaluate ridership and level of service.
Several Metro bus routes service the campus. Students are encouraged to register for a Metro Q-card. The Q-card allows students to receive a 50% discount on their Metro fare. To register for a Q-card, simply visit the parking website and click on the Metro Q- card icon. Registration is a simple process that takes only a matter of minutes. The Metro Q-card will be available for the pick-up at the Welcome Center in approximately 20 business days. To expedite the receipt of the Metro Q-card, students can register at Metro Ride Stores with a valid student ID and a current fee bill.
Parking and Transportation Services is now partnering with Zipcar, a global car-sharing company, to provide UH faculty, staff and students the opportunity to reserve vehicles as necessary in exchange for “driving credits.” A great resource for the UH community, Zipcar has four vehicles located at various buildings across the University to allow quick and easy access for everyone, regardless of where they are on campus. Anyone inter-ested in participating is encouraged to fill out an application at www.Zipcar.com/UH. Applicants who are approved will receive $35 in driving credits, after they pay the $25 annual fee.
