The ISSS is the main resource center for all international students by providing special services related to their status as noncitizens of the United States. The ISSS assists F-1 and J-1 visa students in processing the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) notifications and documents for maintaining legal status with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of State for school transfers, authorizing and extending Forms I-20 and DS-2019, changes in degree levels, reinstatement to legal status, changes in visa status, re-entering the country after short trips abroad, securing work permission, curricular practical training, optional practical training, or academic training.

ISSS assists international students in documenting enrollment status for their respective foreign governments, and in facilitating the transfer of U.S. currency from foreign banks.

All new international students are required to report to the ISSS prior to enrollment to have their passports and immigration documents checked for legal status, to receive special services related to the enrollment process and to attend the orientation program for international students.

The ISSS also offers other special services including counseling and advising on problems uniquely related to international students and provides opportunities for international students to enhance their social and cultural education by establishing close relationships with U.S. families.
