The University Eye Institute offers services that range from comprehensive vision examinations to the medical and surgical management of eye disorders. Our nationally renowned vision professionals use advanced diagnostic instruments in over 80 exam rooms and 30 specialized testing areas, which means that our patients can be assured of the best possible care, utilizing the latest in vision technology.

A wide range of eye care is available. Specialties include the Family Practice Service, Ocular Diagnostic and Medical Eye Service, Cornea and Contact Lens Service, Vision Rehabilitation (Center for Sight Enhancement), Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation, Multiple Sclerosis Eye Care Service, Sports Vision, Color Vision, and Pediatrics. The Essilor University Optical Service provides professional fittings for prescription eyewear and sunglasses and features an extensive selection of budget frames as well as a large collection of designer frames.

The University Eye Institute is located at 4901 Road, entrance #2A, in the J. Davis Armistead Building. Appointments are available Monday through Friday with complimentary patient parking off of Wheeler Street. We accept most health and vision insurance plans, as well as Medicare, Medicaid and major credit cards. Students with UH student health insurance are eligible for one comprehensive exam per year without any out-of-pocket expense.
