Brief History

In 1948, before national fraternaties came to the University of Houston, Gamma Omega Chapter began as a local fraternity called Delta Theta. Even without national backing, Delta Theta flourished and soon petitioned to become a member chapter of Delta Sigma Phi. In 1956, Delta Sigs unfurled the Nile-green flag over UH for the first time. Ever since, Delta Sigma Phi has been known for a tradition of par excellence in Leadership, Scholarship, Athletics and Social Development. Last year Delta Sig continued those standards with a strong GPA; victories in Greek Feud and Pushball; playoffs in football, basketball, and volleyball; our 6th annual all-Greek philanthropy and canoe race: Night on the Nile; social events: Emerald Ball, Sailors' Ball, Charter Ball, Boxer Blowout, and more. In the spring of '94, we completed the restoration of the original 1956 charter. Delta Sigma Phi now looks forward to another memorable year of friendship, tradition and success as one of Houston's oldest remaining fraternities.
