As of April 2016, all Registered Student Organizations have been assigned a category. Each category is listed above and has specific requirements that MUST be met by each organization in order to remain eligible to register for the 2018–2019 Academic Year.

Organizations can have any officer within the organization work towards completing the requirements. Organization officers have the entire academic year through April 2018 to complete the Category Requirements.

RSO Categories Make Up: 2017–2018 Eligibility

CATEGORY I

  • Organization chooses Advisor
  • Serves internal organization members
  • Primarily hosts low-moderate risk events
  • Events are for organizations members and related individuals
  • Does not receive operations/event funding from University

Requirements:

  • Annual Organization Registration Process
  • Your organization must pick TWO of the bulleted option below to complete:
    • 2 officers attend 2 SOLD Sessions each
    • 2 officers attend 1 SOLAR each
    • 2 officers attend 2 Cougar Connections each
    • 2 officers attend 2 Center for Diversity and Inclusion Workshop each
    • 2 Officers attend 1 LGBTQ Workshop
    • WOW or MLK Day of Service (only one event)*

* Organizations must have 10% of their membership participate with a minimum of two members (i.e. Organization has 35 members = 4 members must participate in Day of Service/ Organization has 8 members = 2 members must participate in Day of Service)

CATEGORY II

  • Organization chooses Advisor
  • Serves internal organization members, related individuals and UH Community
  • May receive operations/event funding from University
  • Hosts events open to the UH and Houston Community
  • Moderate to High Risk Events

Requirements:

  • Annual Organization Registration Process
  • Your organization must pick THREE of the bulleted option below to complete:
    • 2 officers attend 2 SOLD Sessions each
    • 2 officers attend 1 SOLAR each
    • 2 officers attend 2 Cougar Connections each
    • 2 officers attend 2 Center for Diversity and Inclusion Workshop each
    • 2 Officers attend 1 LGBTQ Workshop
    • WOW or MLK Day of Service (only one event)*

  • Organization chooses advisor or the Advisor may be assigned by University Department
  • Sponsored by UH Department
  • Receives operations/event funding
  • Moderate to High Risk Events
  • Events open to UH and Houston Communities

Requirements:

  • Your organization must pick FOUR of the bulleted option below to complete:
    • 2 officers attend 2 SOLD Sessions each
    • 2 officers attend 1 SOLAR each
    • 2 officers attend 2 Cougar Connections each
    • 2 officers attend 2 Center for Diversity and Inclusion Workshop each
    • 2 Officers attend 1 LGBTQ Workshop
    • WOW or MLK Day of Service (only one event)*

  • Advisor is assigned by University Department
  • Sponsored by UH Department
  • Receives operations/event funding (SFAC)
  • Moderate to High Risk Events
  • Events open to UH and Houston Communities

Requirements:

  • Annual Organization Registration Process

Attend (All Stipend Student Leaders):

  • 3 SOLD Sessions each
  • 1 Center for Diversity and Inclusion Workshop each
  • XLR (Executive Leadership Retreat)
  • SOLAR (new stipend student leaders only)
