Catalyst Leadership Luncheon
Catalyst is a leadership luncheon series that aims to be a resource to UH students and a forum for UH leaders to share their story and importance of being a catalyst – an agent of change.
Catalyst, Leadership Luncheon Series is committed to the following:
- Catalyst, connects UH students with campus and community leaders in an attempt to inspire creativity, encourage collaboration and foster meaningful networking opportunities.
- Catalyst, provides both formal and informal dialogue for students to gain relevant information and practical knowledge about how to create positive change, lead effectively and make the ordinary extraordinary.
- Catalyst, collaborates with current students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the university in addition to community leaders to broaden the networking potential.
- Catalyst, offers a monthly leadership luncheon available to all University of Houston students.
Come hear one of your UH faculty or staff members speak about their personal leadership story, along with a lesson on how to be an effective and impactful leader.

Lorraine Decker
President of Financial Mentors of America and author of the Game of Real Life
Lorraine Decker is the president and founder of Financial Mentors of America, a Houston based non-profit responsible for licensing the Game of Real Life. The Game is a financial education, career discovery and college selection and funding course for middle school, high school and university students. The program guides economically disadvantaged and underserved teens to step into the future and discover a life path to be productive, contributing members of society.
For her work Lorraine received the 2012 Purpose Prize award from the Encore Organization. This $100,000 award is given to 5 individuals internationally who have made a difference in the world. Lorraine also received the FDIC Chairman’s Award for Innovation in Financial Education.
Lorraine is a pioneer in the financial planning industry where she and her husband Ken Decker developed employer sponsored financial, tax, investment and estate planning workshops to guide employees in achieving financial independence.
