Do I need a dining plan?
Only if you want to make your life simpler.
Enrolling in a Dining Plan allows you to enjoy the great tastes on
campus with friends.

What is the difference between a weekly
meal plan and a block plan?
The block plan is a semester meal allowance.
This allows you to carry your meals throughout the semester, using
your meals at any of our residential restaurants as you choose. A
weekly meal plan gives you a specified number of meals per week and
can only be used during that time period.
Can unused meals on my weekly meal
allowance carry over to the following week?
No. Plan to use your meals each week, unless
you have chosen a Block plan. We can help you decide on the right
plan to fit your schedule and eating habits, ensuring that you get
the full value for your dollars. Unused Cougar Cash will be carried
forward until you withdraw, graduate or is inactive for a one year
period.
Can I change my dining plan?
Yes. Dining plans may be upgraded at anytime by
visiting the 1Card Office. Participants may change their spring
dining plan during the last two weeks of the fall semester only.
How is my meal plans taxed?
At the time you purchase a dining plan taxes
are applied to the weekly meal allowance portion of the total dining
plan. For example: The RFoC 15 ($950+tax) consists of
$950 (15 weekly meals) plus $78.38 tax (only on the meal portion {plus
$150 Cougar Cash (taxed at the time of use) equals $1,178.38 total cost
billed to student. Your fee bill will show $950-Cougar Meal Plan;
$78.38-Meal Plan Tax; $150-Cougar Cash.
Can I treat a friend by using my Dining
Plan?
Yes, of course you can! If you would like to
treat a friend, you may use your Cougar Cash or Block Plan.
All-you-care-to-eat weekly meals are only for your use and may be
used up to 4 meals per day.
What is the difference between Cougar
Cash and Flex Dollars?
Flex Dollars can be utilized at several
locations on campus, including dining services, bookstore, and
vending to name a few. You can add additional funds to your flex
account by visiting a Value Transfer Stations (VTS), located in the
Quadrangle and Moody Towers, or by logging on to this website
www.uh.edu/cougar1card, or by visiting the Cougar 1Card Office
located on the 2nd floor of the University Center, Room
279. Cougar Cash can only be utilized for dining services on
campus.
What do I do when my Cougar Cash runs
low?
Reload. Simply add to your account online at
the Enrollment Services website. Cougar Cash can be added in
increments of $100, $150, $200, $250, $300, $350, $400, $450, $500
once per day. Additional Cougar Cash dollars will be charged to
your university fee bill.
How do I sign up?
It’s easy. You must be an active enrolled
student to enroll online at the Enrollment Services website.
