Employed with the University of Houston System/University of Houston since March 1998.  Present duties include management of ongoing litigation with respect to campus development, real property and transactional related matters. Preparation, drafting, review, legal advice and approval of transactional matters for compliance within applicable Board of Regent/University of Houston System/University of Houston and State of Texas laws, policies and procedures.  Responsible in developing University of Houston System and University of Houston transactional policies and procedures, and conducting necessary training programs and seminars for college and department personnel responsible for business transaction functions. Advise on issues pertaining to employment, student affairs, organizational governance, intellectual property and fundraising. Is responsible for the administrative oversight with respect to the University of Houston Office of Contract Administration/Office of Contract Compliance. 

Mr. Nelson was formally employed with the Houston office of Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. as Corporate Counsel and the Detroit, Michigan construction management firm of Walbridge, Aldinger Company as Chief Corporate Counsel and Legal Officer. He received his education at Michigan State University College of Law in 1987 and the University of Utah in 1984.  Mr. Nelson is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Utah State Bar, State Bar of Michigan and former steering committee member of the Corporate Counsel Division / ABA Construction Forum.  He is active in church service with the LDS Church and has earned the Eagle Scout Award.  Mr. Nelson is married with four children.
