Trainer Certificate Program - 4.8 CEUs

The Trainer Certificate Program is designed for professionals who are emerging and/or experienced trainers. In this program you will learn strategic approaches to designing, developing interactive content, measuring learning outcomes and delivering a positive learning experience. The program is offered as project-based face-to-face workshop delivered in four modules, consisting of two consecutive Fridays each. (Instructors: S. Mukerji, A. Bradley, J. Molloy and D. Martin). Certificate in Strategic Foresight - 4.0 CEUs

The Strategic Foresight program is offered as a 5-day, project-based, face-to-face workshop. Participants learn to anticipate disruptive change and work towards the creation of transformational change, in order to influence the future of their organizations, companies and communities. Participants can obtain the Certificate if they complete a project within a given number of weeks after the program delivery. (Instructor: Dr. Peter Bishop. Dr. Bishop is associate tenured professor of Futures Studies at the University of Houston, College of Technology. Dr. Bishop is an international leader in Futures Studies.) This is a half-day participatory seminar in which participants will learn about the need to align training with essential business goals, developing the ability to formulate a value proposition that gets buy-in from key stakeholders, defining valid measuring indicators, and communicating the value of training at various organizational levels. Accelerated Learning Starter Certificate– 2.4 CEUs

The Accelerated Learning (AL) methodology provides instructional designers and facilitators with the knowledge and practice to design multisensory lessons that appeal to all learner styles, and with the ability to de-suggest (or enable a shift in perspective) when necessary in order to maximize understanding, retention and enable the transfer of knowledge, skills and attitudes. (Instructor: Gail Heidenhain. Ms. Heidenhain is a leader in Accelerated Learning, who delivers starter, intermediate and advanced accelerated learning courses for the International Alliance for Learning.) E-Learning - (Three independent Seminars, or one Certificate)

Participants can take each seminar separately for CEUs, or take all three for a Certificate of Achievement, plus CEUs. The Certificate consists of two 15-week online courses, and one 6-week blended seminar. All include synchronous online “Live Meetings.”


  1. Applications for E-Learning – 4.8 CEUs – Fully online

    Prerequisites: evidence of knowledge of Instructional Design, or Trainer Certification. Participants will learn to use common authoring tools and practice by producing actual online lessons. (Instructor: Paul McLaughlin has a BS in Consumer Science and an MS in Human Resource Development. He is an instructional designer for Amegy Bank.)
  2. Introduction to the Online Environment – 2.4 CEUs

    No prerequisites. This blended seminar provides a practical introduction to the use and management of important interactive online tools, and includes readings and discussions about successful business online learning practices. (Instructor: Madhuri Kumar. Ms. Kumar is the Program Director of Instructional Design Team/Teaching with Technology Group in the University of Houston CT Bauer School of Business. She is a doctoral candidate in the Training & Performance Improvement program in the School of Education at Capella University, and has a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Austin.)
  3. Design and Management of E-Learning – 4.8 CEUs

    Prerequisites: Attendance to Introduction to the Online Environment or proof of having designed at least one online lesson, including standard engagement tools (chats, discussions, social networks, professional networks, etc.) Professional Instructional Designer experience, or proof of knowledge of Instructional Design (via college course, UH Certificate, ASTD certificate or equivalent.) The program focuses on effective facilitation tools and strategies for online learning and training. This is a project-based seminar that walks participants through a step by step sequence of activities to ensure opportunity for practice and application, and includes examples of best practices in design, delivery and management of E-learning. All participants will develop one online lesson/training module. (Instructor: Madhuri Kumar)

Individuals who don't have a background in Instructional Design will need to take the UH Trainer Certificate Program, or an undergraduate level Instructional Design class before they sign for either of these seminars.



ChangeMap for Managers, Driving Engagement to Produce Results

This seminar, followed by two 2-hour coaching sessions, equips managers to lead, engage and retain talent before, during and after a single change event or throughout ongoing change. Learn how to increase engagement and performance, both at the individual and team levels to meet your business and financial goals, even in the midst of transition. Presented in collaboration with Lee Hecht Harrison. (Instructors: Kathy Crawford and other Lee Hecht Harrison specialists.)


Crisis Communication Management – 1.4 CEUs

This seminar, followed by two 2-hour coaching sessions, equips managers to lead, engage and retain talent before, during and after a single change event or throughout ongoing change. Learn how to increase engagement and performance, both at the individual and team levels to meet your business and financial goals, even in the midst of transition.
