UH Grad Chronicle - Spring 2017

So you’ve finally reached this goal you set for yourselves. For some it was a direct journey with few detours and pit stops. For others, it took much longer – sometimes you couldn’t see the light at the end of the road. But you have all made it and you are better for having finished what you set out to do.

This final UH Grad Chronicle will recap some of the most important points we have shared with you over the last few weeks. If you haven’t read any of the other issues – read this one!

  • The UH Commencement Celebration will be held on Friday, May 12, at TDECU Stadium – rain or shine!

  • The Parade of Graduates will begin at 9:45 a.m. and the ceremony will run approximately two hours.

  • If you still need to make reservations for your guests, you can still do so from the main Commencement website. The reservation links will remain active until Thursday evening, May 11. Please note there are no actual tickets and no identication will be necessary. All seating is General Admission – first come, first serve.

  • The TDECU Stadium gates will open at 8:00 a.m. for those guests that have requested ADA assistance. From the Stadium garage (Holman Street), please have them use Gate 4 where they will be escorted to their seats.

  • Gates 1 and 2 (Cullen Boulevard) are general admission gates and will open at 8:30 a.m. Have your family and friends go directly to their seats – do not bring them with you to the line-up area.

  • All graduates participating in the Commencement celebration at TDECU Stadium are requested to use Gate 3 (Scott Street) and proceed to the graduate staging area located on the concourse at that entrance no later than 8:30 a.m.

  • You will be instructed on when to line-up and how the Parade of Graduates will work by college commencement coordinators who will be leading you into the stadium. Doctorate and Masters graduates will line up by degree. Undergraduates will line up by college.

  • All graduates are expected to wear their regalia in order to participate in Commencement. If you still haven’t purchased your regalia, contact the UH Bookstore ASAP.

  • There will be no security in the concourse level after we begin the Parade of Graduates, so please do not leave anything behind. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Give your things to your family and they can take care of them for you.

  • Be sure to eat something before you arrive for Commencement. While we will have water, juice and light snacks on the concourse, there will be no other access to food. This is especially important for those of you with medical issues. Please take care of yourselves and come prepared.

  • The concession stands will be open at TDECU Stadium for your family and guests. They will be set up to accept cash and credit cards.

All of us on the Commencement and Convocation planning committees wish you every success for your future. Remember – wear red on Fridays!
