Order of Omega Fraternity/Sorority Awards

Order of Omega-Kappa Tau chapter is the Greek Honor Society on campus that strives to recognize the outstanding academic achievement, leadership and community involvement of members of the fraternity/sorority community. The Order of Omega Fraternity/Sorority Awards will recognize chapters for their excellence in five star contributions for the previous academic year.

All applications are due by 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2011 to the Center for Leadership and Fraternity/Sorority Life (located in the UC Underground).  Please label them with Order of Omega Fraternity/Sorority Awards upon submission.

Chapter GPA Awards

These awards recognize the chapters demonstrating various levels of scholastic achievement.  There is no application for these awards as they are calculated by Center for Leadership and Fraternity/Sorority Life. The awards are:

  • Most Improved Chapter Overall GPA (based from Fall 2010 semester to Spring 2011 semester)
  • Highest New Member Overall GPA (one award per council and one award for overall highest GPA)
  • Highest Chapter GPA (one award per council and one award for overall highest GPA)

Chapter President of the Year

This award is presented to the fraternity and sorority chapter presidents who have distinguished themselves over the past year. The following criteria will be used in evaluating the credentials of the nominees:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Achievements while in office
  • Character and ideals
  • Completing all the guidelines included on the application

To be considered: Chapter nominee must submit the Chapter President of the Year application by October 13, 2011 as a self nomination or from a chapter member.

Outstanding New Member

This award is presented to a fraternity and sorority new member that has distinguished themselves during their first year of membership. The criteria on which this award is based are as follows:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Service to his/her Chapter
  • Service to the Greek community
  • Character and ideals
  • Completing all the guidelines included on the application

To be considered: Chapter nominee must submit the Outstanding New Member of the Year application by October 13, 2011.

Outstanding Fraternity/Sorority Man/Woman of the Year

This award is presented to a fraternity and sorority member that has distinguished themselves during their 2010-2011 academic year of their membership. The criteria on which this award is based are as follows:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Service to his/her Chapter
  • Service to the Fraternity/Sorority community
  • Service to the University community
  • Character and ideals

To be considered: Chapter nominee must submit the Outstanding Greek Man/Woman application by October 13, 2011.

Community Service Award

This award has been established to recognize a fraternity/sorority chapter for their outstanding community service contributions.  There is no application for these awards as they are calculated by the Center for Leadership and Fraternity/Sorority Life and Metropolitan Volunteer Program based on your submission of your 5 Star Report Forms.

Outstanding Chapter Program/Event

This award has been established to recognize the chapters that have excelled in the planning and execution of a chapter program or event.  Chapters can apply in multiple categories.  Six awards will be given in this category to include:

The following criteria will be used in evaluating the nominated program/event:

  • Program/event goals
  • Program/event execution
  • Program/event evaluation

To be considered: Chapter nominee must submit the Outstanding Chapter Program application by October 13, 2011.

Outstanding Chapter Advisor of Excellence

This award is meant to honor the fraternity and sorority chapter advisor that provides service to his/her chapter, to individual members of the chapter and to the fraternity/sorority community as a whole. Chapter advisors as well as members of the advisory board are eligible to be nominated for this award. (CLFSL and CSI staff members are not eligible).

To be considered: Chapter nominee must submit the Advisor of Excellence application by October 13, 2011.

Outstanding Faculty/Staff Member of the Year Award

This award is presented to an outstanding university administrator or faculty member. It is given to an individual who has contributed significant services to the Greek community and/or the member chapters. (Chapter advisors and CLFSL and CSI staff members are not eligible).

To be considered: Chapter nominee must submit the Outstanding New Member application by October 13, 2011.
