Table Talk Update

The 16th annual Table Talk celebration made a lot of people happy on Wednesday!  As ever, the amassed talent of the conversationalists in the room was thrilling in itself (many of whom are pictured above).  And then there were the conversations. "The talk at our table this year-about food and family memories-was the best ever!" said one longtime fan of the event. "Our conversationalist is a force of nature!" said another. "A beautiful, festive, and fun event" "awesome!" "wonderful," "fantastic," "terrific" are some of the reviews we've received in the aftermath.

Culture Map Story with Photos!

Honoring a panoply of amazing women from diverse industries and backgrounds, in a conversational context that builds community among those at each table, the event broke fundraising and attendance records this year.  Co-chairs Cheryl Creuzot and Leisa Holland-Nelson and their great host committee put together a sell out - with 3 tables added for overflow.  Past conversationalists Helen Vollmer, Donna Vallone, Beth Wolff, Shannon Buggs and Karen Farber filled in at those tables and for two of the planned conversationalists who had last minute conflicts.  Many thanks as well to Laura Arnold for hosting the great kickoff party, and to all our raffle donors and to Zita Giraldo who put together the beautiful raffle baskets and centerpieces. In a week of sexist Oscars and cutbacks on family friendliness at Yahoo, the 54 great conversationalists from so many fields reminds us that women have made and continue to make huge progress.

The lunch featured a short, fun video about WGSS by Blue Ribbon Digital Media, featuring students and our postdoc Rachel Afi Quinn.  In case you didn't hear every word, here's a link
