The Texas Intensive

The Texas Intensive is in its 10th year as a Workshop that is Sanctioned by the Society of American Fight Directors. Certified Teachers, Fight Directors and Fight Masters come from all over the USA to teach classes in the art of Staged Combat, i.e. creating the illusion of violence for stage or screen.
Classes are geared towards actors, directors, and aspiring fight choreographers. Anyone may attend with the understanding that it is a physical discipline. All equipment is supplied at the workshop. Minors may participate with parental permission.
New in 2013: High School Teachers' Stage Combat Workshop—We're proud to announce a new one-day addition to the Texas Intensive: a special set of stage combat sessions geared specifically for the High School Theatre Teacher. SAFD Certified Teachers will lead workshops on the essentials of Unarmed Stage Combat, as well as introductions to sword work, "found weapons," how to manage scenes that call for firearms, and how to manage scenes of "intimacy" that require trust and skill to present moments of love and/or violence. Saturday August 31, 9am-3pm. University of Houston Main Campus. $85 (includes box lunch). For more information, contact Jack Young: jyoung59@uh.edu
