Touring Shows

Dear Educator,

The University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance is excited to announce a tour of our Theatre for Young Audiences Production Bocón by Lisa Loomer.

We would love to bring this production to your campus in February or March of 2015.

Bocón is the story of Miguel who loses his voice when his parents are taken and begins a metaphorical journey north from Central America to the City of Angels. Along the way he meets up with an unusual traveling companion, La Llorona, the legendary "Weeping Woman" of Mexican and Central American mythology. Through their magical friendship, Miguel finds his voice and the courage to cross the border to a new life. Miguel's story is relevant to children from all parts of the world … and to any child who is learning the many meanings of finding one's own "voice."

The play runs approximately 55 minutes and can be performed in any space on your campus.  There is a TEKS based study guide also available!

This show is being produced in collaboration with Talento Bilingue Houston and is being directed by visiting director Professor Michelle Lopez-Rios.
