Biography

Sara Becker’s research interests lie in the areas of outdoor classical theatre, supporting poetic texts, and the role of vocal training/coaching in the Professional Repertory Theatre environment.  National Vocal Coaching credits include: five seasons with both the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and American Players Theatre; credits with Playmaker's Rep, the Guthrie Theatre, the Acting Company, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, the Alley Theatre, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Madison Repertory Theatre, Door Shakespeare Festival, Clarence Brown Theatre, and Renaissance Theatreworks. Her work has traveled to BAM: The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the New Victory Theatre (NYC).

Teaching credits include: the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and workshops for Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Players Theatre and Colorado Shakespeare Festival.

She has performed as an actor for theatres such as Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, Madison Repertory Theatre, Chamber Theatre, Everyman Theatre, the Public Theatre of Maine, Theatre at Monmouth, and others. Her voiceover work includes clients such as National Public Radio, National Credit Union Association, and MCI. She is a proud member of the Screen Actor’s Guild.

She holds a BA from Fordham University, and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she trained extensively with mentor Susan Sweeney. Further training also includes: the Shakespeare Theatre DC; Centre Artistique International Roy Hart in Malerargues, France; and ongoing mentorship with Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Scott Kaiser. Mrs. Becker is a member of the Voice and Speech Trainer’s Association (VASTA), has spoken at the 2013 VASTA Conference and published in the VSR: the Voice and Speech Review.
