SACK is a clinical research center in the Department of Psychology at the University of Houston dedicated to understanding the connections between children’s sleep at night and their behavior and emotions during the day. Our research focuses on helping school-aged kids manage and overcome their anxiety, fears, and sleep-related problems. SACK offers both research opportunities and low-cost clinical services for families based on the latest scientific evidence.
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health diagnoses in children. Roughly 1 in 8 children are affected. School-aged children need between 9 and 11 hours of sleep per night. Most kids do not get the sleep they need. Untreated anxiety and/or sleep disorders are associated with problems related to mood, learning & health. Both anxiety and sleep problems are highly treatable!
