Biographical Summary

Dr. Mabel Rivera is a Research Assistant Professor at the Texas Institute for Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistics in the University of Houston. Currently, she is the Deputy Director of the National Center on Instruction-English Language Learners Strand. She has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in the teacher preparation programs focused on characteristics and methods for teaching students with disabilities. Dr. Rivera is a former teacher of students with special needs in a public school system.

Research Interests

Education and prevention of academic difficulties in English Language Learners and students with disabilities.
