The University of Houston has arrangements with area churches for practice and performance on important new instruments, including the massive 4-manual organ in the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (Pasi Organ Builders, 2010), the elegant 3-manual organ in St. Philip Presbyterian Church pictured above (Paul Fritts and Company, 2009), and the famous 2-manual Bach organ of Christ the King Lutheran Church (Noack Organ Company, 1995).
The Moores School of Music supports a serious program in organ performance with a full studio of organ majors from the bachelor through the doctoral levels. The UH Organ Program promotes organ majors, faculty, and visiting organists from throughout the US and Europe, who present approximately thirty organ recitals, workshops, and lecture-demonstrations each year.
Recitals, workshops, and lectures are presented in the Organ Hall of the Fine Arts Building and on magnificent organs located in Houston-area churches. See Current Events for a complete list of upcoming events.
