Slavery by Another Name


In celebration of Black History Month, please join the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Department of History and Dr. David McNally, Cullen Distinguished Professor of History and Business for a talk titled Slavery by Another Name. The discussion will examine the discovery of the remains of 95 black inmates at the Imperial Farm Prison in Sugar Land, which has drawn national attention to the history of convict leasing in Texas and the Greater Houston Area. The distinguished speakers will explain this history and the current struggle to honor and memorialize the lives and deaths of these 95 men.
