"I am deeply saddened to announce that creative writing Professor Tony Hoagland has transitioned. I purposely use the terminology 'transition' as it is fitting as poetic trope in honor of the life and creative works of the celebrated master poet, Tony Hoagland," says Dr. Antonio D. CLASS students and professors of Jewish Studies organize campus vigil for victims of Pittsburgh shooting

At 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, a candlelight vigil was held in the courtyard of the Student Center to honor the 11 people killed last week in the mass shooting at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue. Read more

Wheelchair Tennis Aces to Compete at Houston Cougar Open

UH Adaptive Athletics is hosting its 3rd annual UH Cougar Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament Oct. 19-21 at the Memorial Park Tennis Center, 1500 W. Memorial Loop Drive. The Cougar Open, sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association, is the largest wheelchair tennis tournament in Texas, drawing players from around the nation. Read more

UH Joins Initiative to Redesign Introductory American History Courses

The University of Houston is part of a national initiative to develop new ways of teaching American history to the next generation of students. Support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, American Historical Association (AHA) and the John N. Gardner Institute for Excellence in Undergraduate Education will allow professors in the UH Department of History to evaluate and revise introductory college history courses mandated by the state.
