College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences faculty earn recognition


Several members of the CLASS faculty have been recognized recently by their professional organizations for achievements in their field. Two psychology faculty members, Dr. Matthew W. Gallagher and Dr. Michael Zvolensky, in addition to one health and human performance faculty member, Dr. Kevin Haubrick, were acknowledged for their accomplishments.

Two Clinical Psychology Faculty receive prestigious awards

Dr. Matthew W. Gallagher, assistant professor of the clinical psychology, has been selected as a Rising Star in the Association for Psychological Science (APS). APS is an international organization whose mission is to promote, protect, and advance the interests of scientifically oriented research, application, and teaching in psychology, and the improvement of human welfare. APS Rising Stars are said by the organization to reflect the best and brightest of psychological science.


Dr. Zvolensky

Dr. Michael Zvolensky, Hugh Roy and Lillie Cranz Cullen Distinguished University Professor and Director of the Anxiety and Health Research Laboratory / Substance Use Treatment Clinic, has been selected as the 2017 recipient of the Outstanding Mid-Career Psychologists Contribution Award by the Association of Psychologists of Academic Health Centers (APAHC). APAHC is the voice of psychology in medical schools and other professional schools in academic health centers, and teaching hospitals. The award was presented during the meeting of the APAHC which was held in Detroit, Michigan on March 9-11, 2017. 


HHP faculty member earns industry recognition

Dr. Haubrick

Dr. Kevin Haubrick, clinical assistant professor of health and human performance, received the Outstanding Dietetic Educator Award from the Nutrition and Dietetic Educators and Preceptors group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This is award covers several states including Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.
