Creative Cougars come together for Red Block Bash on Oct. 9

A who’s who of dynamic artists and performers have emerged from the University of Houston. On Oct. 9, the campus will spotlight our latest generation of talented and creative students during the Red Block Bash.

The annual free festival will deliver performances, activities, readings and insight into the University’s acclaimed arts programs.

The Bash runs 4 – 8 p.m. and will feature events throughout the Arts District section of campus – Blaffer Art Museum, the new Wilhelmina Grove, Fine Arts Courtyard, Fine Arts Building and Jose Quintero Theatre. Parking is available at entrances 16 and 18 off Cullen Boulevard.

Featured performers include the vocal ensemble Men of Moores, University Dance Theatre, Indian dance troupe Roarin’ Raas, authors from Glass Mountain Literary Journal and improv comedy team Flirt Reynolds.

In addition to performances, attendees also can tour Blaffer Art Museum’s latest exhibition Buildering: Misbehaving in the City and participate in art-making activities. Also, students from UH’s Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture will spotlight “mini parks” they created to promote the need for open spaces in Houston.

Refreshments will be available from participating food trucks.
