Associate Professor’s portrait project featured in the newspaper’s Lens Blog

The work of Associate Professor Stephan Hillerbrand was recently featured in the New York Times Lens Blog, a photography showcase for some of the finest and most interesting visual and multimedia reporting — photographs, videos and slide shows in the world.

The August 29, 2012 blog post “Rethinking the Family Portrait” called for international attention to be paid to Prof. Hillerbrand’s surrealistic portrait project, “House/Hold” created through a collaboration with his wife Mary Magsamen.

Prof. Hillerbrand received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Southern Methodist University and a Master’s of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. He met his wife/collaborator at the later. Their work has been included in group exhibitions and screenings nationally and internationally including solo exhibitions at the Butler Institute of American Art and the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia.
