Latin American Studies
What's New?
UH”s Latin American Studies Minor and Program (LAST) in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is designed to encourage study and teaching relating to this very important geographic and cultural area. The minor will be of particular interest to students in areas such as business, humanities, social sciences, hotel and restaurant management, or any other areas where detailed knowledge of Latin America, its countries, and/or regions is useful.
- LAST 3300 is being offered by Professor Susan Kellogg as a distance education course during the Fall 2011 semester.
- Courses for the Latin American Studies Minor, Fall 2011 Semester*
- The Hispanic Studies and new Comparative Cultural Studies Departments will collaborate on a Summer 2012 Study Abroad Program to Brazil. More information will be posted when available.
- Study Abroad in Latin America
The LAST program does not currently run a study-abroad program, but we strongly encourage UH students to consider such an experience.
Visit the Office of International Studies and Programs for more information.
One of the programs sponsored by the OISP is the UH-Kukulcan Spanish Immersion Program. This is a very flexible and reasonably priced program. Please contact either Prof. Guillermo de los Reyes or Prof. Maria Elena Soliño for more information.
