Thesis Option

Option for Research-based Thesis

An option for conducting research and writing a research-based thesis is available to M.Ed. in Physical Education students as a replacement for the comprehensive examination.  This option is offered to students who are following the traditional M.Ed. degree plan, not the online M.Ed. degree plan.  In addition to the required PEP 6305 course, two additional research technique courses are required to assist the student in conducting scientific research and writing a research-based thesis.  The faculty advisor will assist the student in determining the two additional required research technique courses.  Additionally, 6 hours of thesis hours are required (PEP 6399 and 7399 - Master’s Thesis).  Therefore, the student might complete more than the minimum 36 semester hours in order to fulfill the M.Ed. degree in Physical Education with a thesis-based option.  Below is a partial listing of suggested research technique courses:
