Inprint Brown Reading Series

For the 27th year, Inprint presents one of the finest reading series in the country, giving Houstonians a chance to hear from and meet some of the world’s leading writers. From September through April, 14 renowned authors will come to Houston, many for the first time, sharing their work and insights. Our most thought-provoking season yet, these authors’ works address pressing contemporary issues, taking us on a journey around the globe and giving us a literary lens through which to see the world. Poison Girl Reading Series

The Poison Pen Reading Series was started in October of 2006 to offer talented writers a chance to read their work to the patrons of the Poison Girl Bar located on 1641 Westheimer. The readings take place the last Thursday of every month and begin at 8:30 PM. The reading series features fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and dramatic readings from a wide range of authors, both in the University as well as out, both established and beginning writers, and resident as well as visiting authors. This series was begun with small gatherings of devoted listeners but has since ballooned into big appreciative crowds. We schedule two to three writers a month and our readers normally tend to emphasize the big dirty id in their work. The Poison Pen Board consists of Casey Fleming, Greg Oaks, David MacLean, and Scott Repass. Our CEO is Chris Martin. People interested in reading can submit their work to the Poison Girl's Facebook page.
