Film Studies

The Film Studies area of study is designed to cultivate a deep appreciation for the art of filmmaking. The courses allow students to critically analyze films in order to understand their deeper social, political, and aesthetic meanings. Courses for the minor include those that look at the history and cultural role of film, study individual directors, special themes, and develop a deeper appreciation of all film. The objective of this minor is to provide students with the knowledge to become more intelligent, informed viewers and creators of films.
