Robyn Lyn, a Lecturer in the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston, earned her M.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Houston (main campus) with a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies from the Women's Gender & Sexuality Studies Department (WGSS). Previously, she earned her B.A. from UH majoring in Communication-Public Relations with minors in English and Sociology. During her undergraduate studies she completed all coursework for the nonprofit educational program offered by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA) through the College of Social Work towards a Certified Nonprofit Professional certification (CNP candidate).

Robyn also serves as Adjunct Faculty at San Jacinto College and Faculty at Texas REALTORS® University. She teaches real estate education courses for the Houston Association of REALTORS®, Austin Board of REALTORS®, and First American Title Insurance Company traveling the state of Texas. Robyn has had an extensive and established professional career in entrepreneurship spanning over three decades with concentrations in organizational development, branding, marketing, social media, exponential technology, and business administration. She has held a real estate salesperson license since 1993 and a real estate broker’s license since 1996. Her professional subject matter expertise encompasses the art of connecting through conversations, storytelling, prospecting, cultivation, interpersonal relationships, client retention, best business practices, public speaking, and branding and marketing campaigns that engage consumers and convert customers to clients.

After personally experiencing three devastating hurricanes in her lifetime living along the Gulf Coast in Texas, Robyn’s qualitative research interests encompass disaster-related themes including recovery communication, survivor-to-survivor communication, narrative theory, grassroot responses, culture-centered listening and recovery and rebounding through community.

Robyn is past president of UH’s Alpha Epsilon campus chapter and currently a Phi Beta Fraternity alumnae member. She teaches undergraduate courses online in communication research methods, mass communication, media and culture. She can be reached at rlyn@uh.edu.
